A word, the group learnt today... Making a fire was proving a little tricky- even for the veteran fire makers. I took them back to basics and we talked through the steps and how important caring for the fire was. That preparation was the key and that patience helped to build a long lasting, strong fire.
After many attempts and countless wood collection trips, the twigs were all sorted into size and the foundation waffle was created. As a team, they practised their flint use and placement of the tinder. Once the organisation was in place, the fire was lit and stayed lit for the whole of the session. Well done for sticking with it and learning from your mistakes!
Looks like great fun in the mud and rain and what imaginative ideas! Well done all you super young Wildalers!
